Don't trust the dealer. He wants to sell you a new bike. As far as I know the rear pully hasn't changed on the Savage so there should be no problem getting a new one. Even a used one shouldn't take more than one phone call to a bike salvage yard. Check your local phone book or the web for someone close to you.
